How to use the word finder
Unscramble letters: type five letters, one per box. You see whether they already make a word, and every other word made of exactly the same letters.
Search by pattern: put the letters you know in their boxes and leave the rest empty. You can also add letters the word contains somewhere and letters it does not contain. A search shows at most 30 words, the best-known first; add more letters to see the others.

Why is a real word not accepted?
Smartle leaves out names, places, abbreviations and many rare or foreign words, so every puzzle can be solved with words most players know.
Can I use the word finder to solve the daily puzzle?
You can check single words, but the fun of Smartle is finding five words that use all 25 letters, and the word finder only looks at one word at a time.
